What is ‘Silnylon’?
Silnylon is short for Silicone Impregnated Nylon. Instead of a coating on both sides of the fabric (usually with urethane), silicone is applied before the fabric is woven, making an impregnation on both sides of the fabric. In this way, no water is absorbed by the fabric, so stretching and weight gain are kept to a minimum. Also, silnylon is self healing, so unlike urethane coated fabrics, it will not wick water through any small holes in the fabric. Silnylon is also more UV resistant than urethane coated nylons, although it is not meant to be used for extended use (many days) in direct sunlight.
Don’t forget the best Tarp in the World—the MacCat.

I have received the tarp. It looks very well made and sets up tight. Thank you so much, now maybe I won’t get soaked in my hammock!
–Wesley (MacCat Deluxe)
Thank you for the tarp. Worked excellent, used it as a rain fly/porch for tent on hiking trip in the WMNF, Baxter and Acadia.
